LBSU Head to UCLA for the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Jim Bush Legends Invitational

Beach will compete at Drake Stadium this weekend.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State will be heading to Drake Stadium this weekend for the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival, as well as the 2019 Jim Bush Legends Invitational hosted by UCLA.
 
The weekend will kick off Friday evening for LBSU in the distance and throws at the 2019 UCLA Bob Larsen Distance Carnival. Competition starts at 4:30 p.m. with the women's hammer throw, followed by the men's hammer scheduled at 6:30 p.m. De'Ondra Young, Crystal Rodriguez, Erykah McNairy, Amanda Truong, and Samantha Perez will each compete in the event. The field will be fully loaded with Josh Carr, Sebastian Coleman, Nicholas Hudson, Ryan Coy, Charlie Vernoy, and Anthony Sommers competing in the event on the men's side. Senior Young is coming off of a successful performance at the USC Trojan Invitational, after being named the Big West Field Athlete of the Week in this event.
 
 On the track, LBSU distance will compete with Gabe Simpson kicking it off in the men's steeplechase scheduled to begin at 6:50 p.m. Freshman Raymon Ornelas and Tyler Spencer will compete in the men's 5,000 scheduled at 7.55 p.m.
 
Long Beach State will continue its weekend, with a large group of athletes set to compete in the UCLA Jim Bush Legends Invitational at Drake Stadium. The Beach will open up Saturday in the field with Ryan Coy in the men's javelin scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. LBSU will have multiple competitors in each of its field events for both men and women throughout the day, including the shot put, javelin, discus, pole vault, long jump, high jump, and triple jump. National leader Vincent Calhoun is set to take flight in the high jump, coming off a win at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.
 
On the track Saturday, the race begins at 2:30 p.m. with Davis, Golden, Harbin, and Hill in women's 4x100m relay. LBSU will have multiple athletes in the men's and women's short hurdles, 400-meters, and 200-meter dash. LBSU distance will have multiple athletes in the 800m. On the men's side Diego Gonzalez, Patrick Higgins, and Braeden Kraft will all compete and on the women's side, freshman Anitha Graves will compete exclusively in the event.
