
Long Beach State Heads to Riverside for Spring Track Classic

LBSU multi athletes compete in their first Heptathlon/Decathlon of the season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will be heading to Riverside this weekend for the Spring Track Classic hosted by UC Riverside. The Beach will be sending a smaller squad of athletes competing in the multis.
The action at the three-day meet begins on Thursday with the men's decathlon. Long Beach State's quartet of John Broadhead, Derreck Affor, Herman Day, and Devon Alvarado will all be competing in their first decathlon of the season, starting Thursday at 11 a.m. in the 100m. John Broadhead finished third in the indoor heptathlon earlier this season at the MPSF Championships and led the Beach in the event with 5,286 points. The men's decathlon will conclude on Friday, with action beginning at 11 a.m.
On the women's side, Sydney Barnes, Lexi Nardoni, and Kaylee Shoemaker will compete in the Heptathlon scheduled to begin on Thursday at 12 p.m. The women will open up in the 100m hurdles and wrap up Day One in the 200m. The Heptathlon will conclude on Friday, with action scheduled to start at 12 p.m. and end with the women's 800m.
