Long Beach State Set For Home Opener Against Bucknell And Conference Opener Against CSUN

LBSU will take on three opponents this week, including hosting Bucknell for it’s home opener and going on the road for their Big West opener against CSUN.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 15 LBSU (10-10) is riding a four game win streak heading into their home opener against Bucknell (14-6, 0-1 CWPA). The Beach will take on Bucknell on Thursday at 7 p.m. in hopes of extending their win streak to five games. Last week, the Beach grabbed a huge win by taking down No. 14 UC San Diego with a sturdy defensive outing, 5-1.
LBSU will then take on No. 21 CSUN (13-12) in their Big West conference opener on Saturday at 12 p.m. The Beach will finish their weekend back at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center as they host No. 16 Wagner (14-5, 2-0 MAAC) on Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Beach is led by freshman phenom, Orsi Hertzka, who is striving for the LBSU records book in most goals scored in a single season. Hertzka has 48 goals on the season and is nine goals behind the 10th spot of most goals scored in a single season. Junior Marilia Mimidi is the second leading scorer for the Beach with 26 goals. Senior Annabel Harman has 22 goals for the Beach and freshman Sarah Barker has 21 goals. Senior Tori Morrissey rounds off the top five scorers for the Beach this season with 20 goals.
