LAST TIME OUT
•   Long Beach State split its four games last week against nationally-ranked competition. After an exciting 8-7 win over No. 16 Michigan, the Dirtbags took the middle game of their weekend series with No. 23 TCU. LBSU busted out for 14 runs in a 14-3 rout of the Horned Frogs, but managed just five runs combined in the other two contests.
•   LHP Adam Seminaris picked up his first win of the season with seven shutout innings against TCU on Saturday. He struck out six in his outing, which matched a career-high in innings pitched.
•   The Dirtbags have continued to experiment in the lineup and give multiple players opportunities to contribute. So far this season, 19 different players have had multiple plate appearances, with 18 players getting at least one start in the batting order. Junior Riki DeSa was the most recent player to get his first start, playing left field on Sunday vs. TCU and collecting three hits and a pair of runs scored.

SCOUTING THE BRUINS
•   UCLA enters Tuesday's contest with a No. 2 national ranking and an 11-3 record. The Bruins have won all three weekend series this year against St. John's, at Georgia Tech and at home against Sacramento State. UCLA participated in the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic last weekend, losing 7-5 at home against Michigan before defeating Oklahoma State, then topping USC 7-5 at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.
•   The Bruins have one of the best pitching staffs in the nation, with an ERA of 1.91 as a team. Of the 11 pitchers who have appeared for the Bruins, the highest individual ERA is just 3.86 and the staff has recorded 157 strikeouts in 127 innings this season.
•   Junior 3B Ryan Kreidler has led the offense so far this season with a .404 batting average. He also leads the team with 13 runs scored and three home runs while driving in 10. Freshman CF and leadoff man Matt McLain leads UCLA with 12 RBIs this season, sitting atop a veteran lineup with key returners like Chase Strumpf, Michael Toglia, Jake Pries, Jeremy Ydens, and others.
•   Long Beach State won both meetings against UCLA last season, winning 5-2 on Apr. 10 in Long Beach before winning 5-1 on May 8 in LA. UCLA leads the all-time series 65-46, but Long Beach State leads 33-31 in the head-to-head series since 1989.

LB IN MLB
•   Long Beach State had more former players in the big leagues than any other college or university from 2010-17, with 13 MLB representatives in 2018, again placing the Dirtbags among the nation's leaders.
•  Three Dirtbags made their MLB debuts last season, all in the span of two weeks. RHP Drew Gagnon debuted for the Mets on July 10, followed by infielder Garrett Hampson's debut on July 21 for the Rockies and INF Jeff McNeil on July 24 for the Mets.
