The Beach Finish Up Competition at Don Kirby Invitational

LBSU finishes strong in their last day of competition.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -Â The Beach finished up the Don Kirby Invitational on Saturday, with sprints, hurdles and jumps headlining day two of competition. Blair Robinson and Courtne' Davis each had a solid day in the field and on the track.

Senior Blair Robinson set the tone for the Beach, finishing in second place and jumping a new personal best of 50-02.75. His mark moves him to sixth on the Long Beach State indoor all-time list and he is currently leading all Big West competitors in this event. Tavi Kamarullah recorded a new PR in the men's shot put with a throw of 55-03.00, pushing him to eighth on the all-time list.

Davis finished fourth in the 60-meter dash, clocking a time of 7.46 in the final. She finished closely behind fellow NCAA all-American Jasmin Reed from Oregon who clocked a time of 7.35. Azaria Hill also reached the semi-finals of the 60m, running a time of 7.64. Senior Kennedy Krueger had a solid performance in the pole vault, clearing a new indoor PR of 12-02.75 to move her up to seventh on the indoor all-time list.

More action on the track, Kent Harris advanced to the semis in the men's 60m, running a new personal best time of 6.89 to put him at third on the all-time list. LBSU's Derreck Affor also recorded a new PR in the men's 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 8.26. His performance also moves him up to third on the Long Beach State all-time list. Kemonie Briggs placed ninth overall in the 400-meters, running 48.23 to improve on his time two weeks ago at the Air Force Invitational.

In the distances, Braeden Kraft had a solid performance in the men's 800m, running a time of 1:56.48 to finish in tenth. Freshman Anitha Graves won her section of the women's 800m with a time of 2:22.79.

In the final event of the competition, LBSU men's 4x400m relay team finished fourth with a recorded time of 3:15.31. This time has placed the quartet comprised of senior Kemonie Briggs, sophomore Faris Babineaux, junior Kent Harris, and senior John Broadhead to eighth on the all-time list.

Long Beach State will be back in action on Feb. 23-24 for the MPSF Championships in Seattle.
