LBSU stayed within striking distance and beat San Jose State in sudden victory, 8-7.

IRVINE, Calif. – Long Beach State looked to keep the momentum going from yesterday's win over CSUN as they headed into the final day of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational against San Jose State (3-3). LBSU kept the game tight to make the jump at sudden victory to beat San Jose State, 7-6.

San Jose State would commence the game with a 1-0 lead after one quarter, but the Beach would fight back in the second to tie things up at the half, 2-2. Both goals would be scored by freshman Orsi Hertzka.

The Beach and San Jose State would continue the same pace as the match would be tied 4-4 at the end of three with goals from senior Tori Morrissey and junior Marilia Mimidi. The fourth quarter would pitch the same story as the Beach and Spartans would be tied, 6-6, with goals by senior Annabel Harman and Morrissey.

The game would shift into overtime where we would see Harman give the Beach the lead, 7-6 at the end of the first overtime. SJSU would tie things up at the end of double overtime, 7-7. Sudden victory would be where we would see LBSU take the win as freshman Sarah Barker would lift the Beach, 8-7.

At the end of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational, Hertzka jumped up to 30 total goals, while Morrissey makes it 15 goals on the season. Harman ties Morrissey with 15 goals on the season as well. Sophomore Olivia Grim has 10 goals on the season, while Mimidi now has nine goals on the season.

The Beach will be back next weekend at the Wolverine Invitational on March 2nd and 3rd.
