LONG BEACH, Calif. –
Four Beach players reached double-figures, and Naomi Hunt tallied a double-double, as Long Beach State picked up a 62-53 win over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday in the Walter Pyramid.

The Beach (8-18, 5-8 Big West) snapped a three-game losing skid as a strong fourth quarter propelled them to a nine-point win over the Gauchos (6-20, 3-10 Big West).

Hunt recorded her first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Beach. Hunt and Shanaijah Davison each tallied 14 points to set the offensive tone. Freshmen Justina King (13 points) and Lauren Green (12 points) also finished with double-figures as Green set a new career-high for herself.

After falling behind 4-0 to start the game, Long Beach State went on a 16-0 run highlighted to jump out in front, 16-4 with less than a minute in the first quarter. The Beach would take a 10-point lead into the second quarter after a jumper by UCSB's Natalia Bruening.

With a double-digit lead, Long Beach State went cold in the second quarter as the Beach shot 28.6-percent from the field and found themselves down 23-18 thanks to a 17-0 UC Santa Barbara run. However, LBSU showed its grit and never quit. After King sunk both free throws to make it a 26-23 game, Kianna Hamilton-Fisher drained a three with 1:10 left in the first half to tie the game, before Davison's jumper with 35 seconds on the clock gave Long Beach State a 28-26 edge at halftime.

The third quarter was close throughout as neither team led by more than two possessions. UCSB took a six-point lead (41-35) on a jumper by Danae Miller at 1:54, but Long Beach State was quick to counter as Hunt and King sunk back-to-back threes to tie the game heading into the final quarter of action.

The conference foes continued to play a close game early in the fourth quarter, but a three by Green at 2:12 sparked a 9-2 run by the Beach which put the game out of reach. Long Beach State led by as many as 10 in the final quarter as LBSU capitalized on free throws going 10-for-10 from the line in the fourth quarter en route to a earning a 62-53 victory.

UC Santa Barbara was led by Bruwning's 16 points and eight rebounds, while Tal Sahar added 13 points, and Danae Miller contributed nine points, six boards, six assists, and four steals.
