Freshman Joshua Morgan led Long Beach State with 11 points.
SEATTLE, Wash. – Cold weather equaled cold shooting on the road in a holiday fixture, as Long Beach State was unable to overcome 29 percent shooting in the first half against Seattle Monday in Washington.
Long Beach State (4-10) had two players in double-figures, led by Joshua Morgan with 11 while Chance Hunter tallied 10 in the defeat.
Seattle (7-7) responded from a Saturday loss with hot shooting in the first half while the Beach was ice cold, giving the Redhawks a big lead from which Long Beach State never recovered. Seattle shot 45.2 percent from the field and also made 11 free throws in the first half to pace the Redhawks to a big lead.
Long Beach State would cut an 11-point Seattle lead to six points on a three from Hunter at 22-16 with nine minutes remaining in the first half, but the Redhawks answered with a 7-0 run. Seattle would then push the edge to 20 points at halftime, holding LBSU to just 24 in the half.
In the second half, Long Beach State righted the ship, being outscored by only two points 35-33, but the damage was already done on the way to the 79-57 setback.
Redshirt freshman Jeffrey Yan got some late minutes, scoring a career-high four points off of the bench, while Drew Cobb finished with nine in his second game back. Terrell Brown led five Redhawks in double-figures with 17 points.
Long Beach State will get a brief break over Christmas the hit the road once more, traveling to Florida to face the Gators in a morning contest on December 28.
