Aquatics Legend Bob Horn Passes Away At 87

The Two-Time Olympian was a 1988 Inductee into the Long Beach State Athletics Hall of Fame.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The water polo community is mourning a legend after learning of the loss of Bob Horn, who died last week at 87 following a long illness.
 
                Considered to be the best goalie in American Water Polo history, Horn represented the United States at the 1956 Olympics and then starred for two seasons at Long Beach State, earning All-American honors as well as being named the school's student-athlete of the year.
 
                He would once again be selected for the Olympics in 1960 and then returned to the Beach, serving as an assistant coach before heading to UCLA, where he would spend 28 years as the Bruins head coach, including winning the first NCAA Championship in Water Polo during the 1969 season.
 
                Horn was a 1988 inductee into the Long Beach State Athletics Hall of Fame, and has also been inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame, the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame, and the Long Beach Aquatics Hall of Fame.
