Beach Tennis Hosts BYU, Hawaii This Weekend

LONG BEACH – The Long Beach State women's tennis team welcomes BYU and Hawaii to Rhodes Tennis Center this weekend for a pair of matches. The Beach host the Cougars on Friday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m., before playing Hawaii in a Big West Conference contest on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
• Long Beach State is looking to bounce back after dropping a 5-1 decision to St. Mary's last week.
• In the loss against the Gaels, Lena Pacholski was the bright spot for the Beach winning her singles match by set scores of 6-4, 6-0 in the number one spot.
ABOUT THE BEACH
• Long Beach State brings a 1-1 overall record into the weekend's matches. The Beach are 1-0 in Big West action after having opened the season with a 5-2 win over UC Riverside.
• Senior Lena Pacholski leads the Beach as she is 2-0 in singles action during the dual match season. She is on a six-match winning streak dating back to the tournament season in which she finished with a 12-4 record.
• The Beach have posted strong showings in singles competition thus far as they opened the season winning all five singles matches against UCR.
ACROSS THE NET – BYU
• The Cougars are 1-0 on the year after having opened the season with a sweep of Weber State.
• BYU will spend the weekend in southern California playing at UC Irvine before coming to Long Beach, Calif., then will conclude its road trip at San Diego State.
ACROSS THE NET – HAWAI'I
• Hawai'i comes into the match at Long Beach State with an 0-1 overall record. The match will be the Rainbow Wahine's first Big West Conference contest of the year.
• In their only match of the season, Hawai'i dropped a 6-3 decision to Washington on Jan. 12.
• Since the loss to Washington, Hawai'i has hosted a pair of tournaments before making its way to California to take on San Diego, Long Beach State, and UC Davis.
UP NEXT
• Long Beach State will travel to the East Coast to take on George Washington on Friday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m., before going up against Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 9 a.m.
