
Water Polo Picks Up First Win At Barbara Kalbus Invitational

Newport Beach, Calif. - Competing in its second match of the day, No. 19 Long Beach State picked up a 10-6 win against No. 14 San Diego State.
Virginia Smith led the way with four goals to lift LBSU to its first win at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational.
In the first quarter, Maria Eleni Mimidi and Smith each found the back of the cage and the Beach finished the period tied 2-2 with the Aztecs.
LBSU jumped out to a 5-3 lead at halftime thanks to goals from Alexandra Massier, Olivia Grim and Smith's second goal.
The Beach didn't let off the gas in the third period as they scored five goals.
Smith highlighted the quarter with two goals to bring her total to four on the day. Raney Remme, Tori Morrisey and Massier also scored to give LBSU a comfortable lead.
In the final period, SDSU scored one goa, but LBSU closed out the victory.
LBSU will be back in action Sunday morning when they take on either Cal State Northridge or No. 18 San Jose State.
