Long Beach State To Host Pomona-Pitzer In Opening Round Of NCAA Tournament

After winning the GCC Tournament, Long Beach State will now host the opening round of the NCAA Tournament as they take on Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.

    LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 6 Long Beach State (13-11) will host the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center as they take on No. 20 Pomona-Pitzer (24-8). LBSU clinched its berth to the NCAA Tournament with the win against No. 5 Pacific on Sunday giving the program its first bid since 1991.
    
    With a win over the Sagehens, LBSU would then move on to the quarterfinals round where they would take on UC San Diego. Stanford will be the host to this year's NCAA Tournament. The second round games will take place on Nov. 29 followed by the semifinals on Dec. 1 and the final being held on Dec. 2.
    
    Stanford and USC were placed as the top seeds, while UC San Diego and UCLA have received a first-round bye. The other opening round game will contain Princeton against George Washington. Long Beach State will be looking to claim their first NCAA championship in program history for Water Polo and this will also be Gavin Arroyo's first NCAA tournament appearance as head coach. The Beach is making their 12th NCAA Tournament appearance in Men's Water Polo.
