Four Earn Golden Coast Conference Postseason Honors For Men’s Water Polo

Keegan Wicken, Austin Stewart, Garrett Zaan, and Austin Stevenson selected for GCC postseason honors.
LONG BEACH, Calif. — Four Beach Water Polo players earned All-Golden Coast Conference honors as selected by the league's coaches on Wednesday, with Keegan Wicken, Austin Stewart, Garrett Zaan, and Austin Stevenson all earning selection.
Wicken, Stewart, and Zaan were all placed on All-GCC second team, while Stevenson was earned honorable mention for All-GCC.
Stewart was named to the second team for the second season in a row, while Wicken earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career. Zaan was also picked for the All-GCC Second Team the first season of his young LBSU career in addition to being placed on the All-Freshman GCC team.
Stevenson earned his third All-Golden Coast Conference selection, earning Honorable Mention for the second straight season after being chosen for the second team in 2016.
Stewart led the Beach with 45 goals, 11 steals and eight assists. Wicken notched 22 goals on the season, second most on the team, while adding eight steals as well. Stevenson claimed 17 goals, two assists, and six steals on the season. Zaan bagged 20 goals, four steals, and included a GCC Player of the Week earning to his credential along with having an ongoing 11-game streak of scoring a goal in a game consecutively.
Long Beach State is set to take on Pepperdine (15-10, 3-1) in the semifinal for the Golden Coast Conference tournament on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
