Virginia Smith Named Big West Player of the Week

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State's Virginia Smith was named Big West Player of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. This marks the second week in a row in which a player from the Beach has received the weekly honor as Christina Kotsia earned the accolade last week.

Smith helped lead LBSU to a 3-0 week which included wins over No. 17 Hartwick and No. 12 UC Davis. Overall, she tallied eight goals (two hat tricks), two assists and two steals. Those eight goals now have her tied for second on the team with 32 goals scored this season.

Long Beach State is back on the road this week as the team will face off against No. 19 UC San Diego in La Jolla tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
