Julie Gerard Earns Big West Athlete of the Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. - A second straight Beach Tennis player has claimed Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, as Julie Gerard has picked up the honors for the first time in her career. Gerard went 4-0 combined in two wins last week over UT Arlington and Yale.

Gerard, a senior from Hem, France, follows fellow senior Maeva Razakasoa, who was last week's winner. Playing exclusively at the No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles spots in the lineup this season, Gerard has a 10-3 singles record and 7-2 doubles record during dual match play.

Last week, she was a straight set winner in both of her singles matches, and won 6-4 and 6-0, respectively, in doubles competition. After the two wins last week, Gerard is now 8-2 in her last 10 matches.

LBSU is in action this week against two ranked teams, hosting No. 39 Dartmouth on Thursday at 2 p.m., then hosting No. 46 Denver on Sunday at 11 a.m.
