LONG BEACH, Calif. - After a perfect 3-0 week, the Beach will look to keep the momentum going this week at Rhodes Tennis Center, continuing a six-match homestand with matches against UT Arlington (6-4) and Yale (4-7). Long Beach State (9-2) will face the Mavericks of UTA on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., then entertain the Bulldogs on Friday at 2 p.m.
100 WINS AND RUNNIN'
• With a 6-3, 6-0 win over Georgetown's Victorie Saperstein on Mar. 7, senior Maeva Razakasoa reached 100 career singles wins at Long Beach State. She is the new all-time leader in career singles wins, ahead of current LBSU assistant coach Anais Dallara.
• Razakasoa has a career win percentage of just under .800, and during dual match play, has played 63 of her 76 singles matches at the No. 1 spot in the Beach lineup.
• As of this week, Razakasoa's career singles win total is at 102, bringing her overall wins total at Long Beach State to 173. She is also on track to challenge Dallara's record for overall wins in a career.
LAST TIME OUT
• LBSU went 3-0 last week with wins over Georgetown (6-1), Cal State Fullerton (4-3) and San Diego (5-2). The Beach improved to 5-0 at home this season, and the win at Fullerton gave the Titans their first loss of the season.
• Razakasoa and junior Lena Pacholski each went 3-0 in singles play last week to help the Beach to three nice wins.
ACROSS THE NET - UT ARLINGTON
• The Mavericks are 6-4 on the season and coming off a 4-1 loss at Fresno State on Monday. UTA had previously won five straight matches on its home courts before suffering the road defeat.
• Freshman Anna Wichert, who plays at No. 5 singles, was named the Sun Belt Co-Player of the Week after helping the Mavericks to wins over Stephen F. Austin and New Mexico State.
• Long Beach State and UT Arlington traded wins in 1995 and 1996, and the two programs have not met since.
ACROSS THE NET - YALE
• The Bulldogs have been very streaky this season, losing their first seven matches before starting an active five-match winning streak. Their most recent win was a 4-3 decision at San Diego State in their first road match of the season. Yale will also play at LMU on Wednesday.
• This will be the first meeting between LBSU and Yale since 2002.
SENIORS SPECIAL
• The 2017 senior class will go down as one of the best in Long Beach State history, and is already the winningest. All four of this year's seniors—Laura Eales, Julie Gerard, Maeva Razakasoa and Hayley Thompson—are in the Top 15 for overall wins in program history, still with a final semester yet to play.
• Razakasoa is a two-time and defending Big West Player of the Year. She is looking to claim the conference's top honor for the third time this season, which would put her one award shy of LBSU Hall of Famer Hannah Grady.
• Razakasoa briefly entered the national singles rankings on Feb. 8, checking in at No. 124 in the country.
