LONG BEACH, Calif. - Coming off an impressive 7-0 victory over UC Riverside last weekend, the Beach will look to start a winning streak with a pair of matches this weekend in Long Beach. First up, a second straight Big West matchup against visiting CSUN on Saturday at 12 p.m. Then, the San Francisco Dons visit Rhodes Tennis Center on Sunday at 11 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
• LBSU earned its first win of the season with a 7-0 drubbing of UC Riverside. The Beach dropped just nine games across six singles wins to secure the comfortable victory.
• The Beach now holds a 21-0 all-time edge in the series with UC Riverside.
ACROSS THE NET - CSUN
• The Matadors enter the matchup at 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big West. CSUN suffered a 5-2 loss at LMU to open its season, then put up consecutive wins over UC Riverside (6-1) and Westmont College (7-0) before falling to San Diego (4-0) and Hawai'i (4-0).
• LBSU won last year's meeting in Northridge, 6-1, with CSUN's lone point coming at the No. 6 singles spot.
• The 49ers own a 33-12 advantage in the all-time series with CSUN.
ACROSS THE NET - SAN FRANCISCO
• The Dons are 0-3 entering the weekend, with losses to Sacramento State (7-0), UC Davis (5-2) and Cal State Fullerton (5-1). They also will face UC Irvine on Saturday to continue their Big West swing, playing five conference teams in a row.
• LBSU opened the 2016 dual match season with a 6-1 home win over San Francisco, and the Beach holds a 6-0 advantage in this matchup all-time.
ON A STREAK
• LBSU has won 29 consecutive regular season matches against Big West opponents dating back to Mar. 30, 2013.
• The Beach is also on an eight-match home winning streak and hasn't lost a Big West home match since Mar. 5, 2011.
SENIORS SPECIAL
• The 2017 senior class will go down as one of the best in Long Beach State history, and is already the winningest. All four of this year's seniors—Laura Eales, Julie Gerard, Maeva Razakasoa and Hayley Thompson—are in the Top 15 for overall wins in program history, still with a final semester yet to play.
• Senior Maeva Razakasoa is a two-time and defending Big West Player of the Year. She is looking to claim the conference's top honor for the third time this season, which would put her one award shy of LBSU Hall of Famer Hannah Grady.
