Long Beach, Calif. - The Long Beach State 49ers take their 6-1 record north this weekend to the prestigious Mountain Pacific Invitational. LBSU will have the chance to face off against elite opponents as 12 out of the top 20 teams in the country are participating in the tournament.
The Beach will play a total of four games and will be in Bracket B. Joining them in Bracket B will be UC Davis, Santa Clara and USC. Their first game will be played on Friday at 2:25 p.m. against No. 12 UC Davis.
The team then plays two games on Saturday and their final game on Sunday. Their first game on Saturday will be against either No. 2 USC or No. 20 Santa Clara. The last two games will depend on how the rest of the brackets shake out.
Senior Nolan McConnell leads the 49ers' high-octane offense with 17 goals and goalie Thomas Freeman is coming off his best performance of the season, where he had 12 saves against No. 1 UCLA. Long Beach State will need to be strong on both sides of the ball in order to find success in Northern California this weekend.
