Long Beach, Calif. - After opening up 2016 with six wins at neutral sites, Long Beach State looks to get their first home win of the season against No. 1 UCLA.
The Beach dominated at both tournaments they played in over the last two weekends. The offense was clicking on all cylinders and the defense was stingy. Through the first six games of the season, the 49ers have outscored their opponents 99-23.
Senior Nolan McConnell has led the offensive barrage and looks to be back to his 2014-2015 form. He has gotten a lot of support from his fellow attackers including Keegan Wicken, Lee Griffin and Lovro Miocevic. Austin Stevenson was a player to watch leading up to the season and he has not disappointed. He has anchored the defense alongside the tandem at goalie of Thomas Freeman and Steven Cagle. But beating No. 1 UCLA will not come easily. The Bruins return three 1st team All-Americans including 2015 Player of the Year Garrett Danner.
This will be a good test for LBSU as UCLA has started the season 9-0 while already having beaten five ranked opponents.
The game starts at 7 p.m. and will be played at the Lindgren Aquatics Center.
