Long Beach, Calif. - Beach Tennis head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello announced another addition to the Long Beach State roster, bringing Lena Pacholski into the program for the 2016-17 season. Pacholski is a transfer to the Beach from Division II Armstrong State, where she had a fantastic two seasons. Her overall singles record was 44-2, and she helped the Pirates to consecutive Division II national championships.
"We are so excited to have Lena joining our team this fall," said Hilt-Costello. "She is an exceptional young lady and tennis player. Her record at Armstrong State speaks for itself, and she will bring a high level of experience and talent to the top half of our lineup."
Pacholski is from Fuveau, France, but has spent the last two years in Savannah, Ga. playing for Armstrong State. She went undefeated her freshman year, going 15-0 in singles without dropping a single set, plus a 9-0 doubles record for the Pirates in 2015. She followed that up with a 29-2 singles record this past season, including a perfect 24-0 mark in dual match play. Pacholski was also 31-4 in doubles play in 2015-16, playing with three different partners. She was also a member of the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll.
Prior to her success in collegiate tennis, Pacholski was a top player in France, earning a Top 10 ranking among 16, 17 and 18-year-olds. In 2014, she reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 10k event in Macon, France, and she has competed in numerous other tournaments across Europe.
Pacholski becomes the fourth member of a talented incoming class for the 2016-17 campaign, joining Maren Helgo, Natalia Munoz and Estee Widdershoven.
