Daniel Chian In Second Place After Two Rounds At OGIO UCSB Intercollegiate

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - After two rounds of play at the OGIO-UCSB Intercollegiate, Long Beach State senior Daniel Chian sits in second-place at five-under-par 139, after leading the 49ers to fourth at 11-over 587 at Sandpiper Golf Club.
Cal Poly leads the field of nine teams at five-under 571, as the Mustangs hold a seven shot lead over second-place Grand Canyon (+2) and 12 strokes over tournament host UC Santa Barbara (+7) in third.
Chian remains just one-stroke behind individual leader Felix Mory of CSUN at six-under. Chian recorded an opening round 72 to tie for sixth. He then made a five stroke improvement in the second round, firing a five-under 67 to move up the standings by four spots.
Senior Michael Chen tied for 18th at four-over 148 after carding rounds of 72 and 76.
Senior Kevin Lee (74-77) and junior Jonny Hogan (76-75) are tied for 29th at seven-over 151.
Redshirt freshman Joe Fryer tied for 51st at 12-over (81-75).
Junior Nick Cantlay and freshman Tanner Dice playing as individuals for the 49ers, tied for 35th and 48th respectively. Cantlay is eight-over 152, following rounds of 79 and 73, while Dice is 11-over after posting rounds of 78 and 77.
Final round play concludes on Tuesday with the 49ers teeing off at 8:40 a.m. from the first tee and will be paired with the Mustangs and Gauchos.
