Alejandro de Castro Piera Named March Big West Golfer Of The Month

The senior finished in the Top 10 in three tournaments, including winning the Wildcat Intercollegiate in Tucson.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Senior Alejandro de Castro Piera has been on an absolute tear in his last three competitions, and was rewarded as the Big West Golfer of the Month for March.
With three straight Top 10 finishes, de Castro has risen all the way to No. 35 in the national individual rankings, highlighting his excellent month of March.
The senior started the month with a runner-up finish at the R.E.L. Invitational at the San Diego Country Club, finishing -13 after matching his career-low with a 9-under 63 in the first round.
After three second-place finishes in his career, de Castro then took over the top spot at the Wildcat Intercollegiate, hosted by Arizona. Again getting off to a hot start, de Castro shot back-to-back rounds of 65 and ultimately again finished -13 to claim the championship.
Rounding out the month, de Castro was again under par at The Goodwin, finishing in a tie for sixth place among a large field of 160 golfers competing at Stanford. de Castro wrapped up the tournament with a score of -6.
Over the month, de Castro had five rounds in the 60s, recording a stroke average of 67.77 in March.
No. 28 Long Beach State will play in one more tournament, the ASU Thunderbird Intercollegiate, before taking on the Big West Championship, where the Beach is trying for a fourth straight title.
