Lawrence, Kan. - LAWRENCE, Kan. -- No. 4 Kansas took full advantage of playing at home, shooting nearly 60% from the field and out-rebounding Long Beach State in a 91-61 win over the Beach in Allen Fieldhouse Tuesday night.

Long Beach State (1-8) had junior point guard Justin Bibbins put together his best game of the season so far offensively, scoring 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting with five assists and four rebounds, but that tied the team high as Kansas (6-1) dominated the Beach on the glass, 41 to 24 that led to 19 second chance points for the Jayhawks.

The Beach got off to a good start, finding Javonntie Jackson for a quick basket, and then Gabe Levin hit a three to put the 49ers on top 5-2. Kansas answered with a trey on the other end, tying the game at five and then a Frank Mason layup put the Jayhawks on top for good.

Bibbins hit a 3-pointer with 11:43 to go in the first half to cut the Kansas lead to one at 14-13, but the Jayhawks reeled off 13 unanswered points to take control of the contest.

Kansas led 48-25 at halftime, but a renewed effort from the Beach saw LBSU outscore the Jayhawks over the first four and a half minutes of the second half. Kansas unreeled another big run, however, a 13-2 spree that helped put the lead out of reach.

Both Bibbins and Levin scored in double figures while tying for the team lead with four rebounds, while Jackson scored a career-high nine points to go with a pair of assists and three rebounds. Barry Ogalue also pitched in nine points in nine minutes as a second-half substitute.

The Jayhawks shot 59.6 percent from the field overall and 53.8 percent from three, led by Lagerald Vick who scored 23 points while being a perfect 9-for-9 from the field with four threes.

Long Beach State finishes its nine-game road swing on Saturday, when the 49ers travel to Las Cruces, N.M. to face New Mexico State. The game will be shown live on ESPN3, and will be broadcast locally on Fox Sports Prime Ticket on tape delay later that evening.
