Arroyo, Grimes Appointed To USA Water Polo Positions

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State Water Polo head coach Gavin Arroyo and Liz Grimes have both accepted roles with USA Water Polo, continuing a tradition of international involvement while coaching and playing at the Beach.
Arroyo has been named this cycle's Men's Cadet Team head coach, where he will lead the top U16 players in the country. His competition tenure begins today, as the team travels to Serbia for the Darko Cucic Memorial Tournament.
A veteran of playing for the USA water polo program, Arroyo spent eight years as part of the senior men's national team, and also served as an assistant coach with the senior team during the 2005 cycle.
Women's Water Polo assistant coach Liz Grimes has also reprised her former role as the senior women's national team manager. Over the summer, Grimes has traveled with the team for a friendly win against Spain in Madrid en route to the FINA World Championships, where Team USA has advanced to the semifinals. The women's national team will play in the semifinals on Wednesday, and with a win can claim the Gold Medal with a victory on Friday, August 7.
