Thompson Wins Final Weekly Honors Of 2015

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- After a near flawless week on the court, sophomore Hayley Thompson was selected as the Big West Athlete of the Week. The award was the final given out for the 2015 season and was the third for the Beach this season.
Thompson's honor completed a Beach bookend of the weekly award. Maeva Razakasoa won the award to start the season and Thompson won the award for the final week of the regular season.
The sophomore from Irvine, Calif. was perfect in two singles matches last week with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 4 spot in the lineup against UC Riverside and Cal Poly. She also paired up with Ebba Unden to win both No. 1 doubles matches.
Thompson joins Razakasoa and Laura Eales as the three players to bring home the weekly honors this year. It is the second career weekly honor for Thompson, who also won the award in March of 2014.
She owns a 20-12 record in singles this year as one of five 49ers to have 20-plus wins on the season. She is also 20-12 in doubles, going 15-9 with current partner Ebba Unden.
