
Beach Falls Against No. 2 Oregon

Fulllerton, Calif. - Long Beach State held close with No. 2 Oregon through six innings, but a big seventh for the Ducks helped Oregon take a 12-1 win over Long Beach State.
After a scoreless first inning, Oregon (20-3) took a lead in the second on a solo home run by Hailey Decker. The Ducks remained in control as Cheridan Hawkins was dominant early, striking out the first nine 49er batters she faced.
The Ducks pushed across two more runs in the third courtesy of doubles from Nikki Udria and Janelle Lindvall. Another Oregon run came across in the sixth, as Decker doubled home Gwen Svekis to make the score 4-0.
Long Beach State (10-15) scored in the sixth inning, taking advantage of a leadoff double by Lauren MacLeod. After being sacrificed to third a base hit by Shayna Kimbrough brought home pinch runner Hannah Cookson to get the 49ers on the board.
The Ducks tacked on one more run in the seventh on a solo shot from Lauren Lindvall, and then rallied to add seven more in the top half. In the bottom half, Lauren Lombardi singled and Julia Lombardi homered to center against Oregon reliever Cheyanne Powell.
