LONG BEACH, Calif. - Beach Tennis wraps up a four-match homestand this week with a single match against Big West foe CSUN on Saturday. The Beach looks to remain undefeated in Big West play and extend its winning streak to three matches.
THE MATCHUP
· Long Beach State is 30-12 all-time against CSUN and haven't lost a match to the Matadors since 2000.
· Last year, CSUN pushed the Beach to the edge but Karolina Rozenberg clinched the 4-3 win for the Beach.
· CSUN hasn't climbed into the national rankings but is having a strong year with a 10-2 overall record and a 3-1 mark in Big West matches.
BIG WEST DYNASTY
· Long Beach State can take one step closer to continuing its dynasty with a win over CSUN on Saturday. At 5-0, the Beach is on top of the Big West standings. The only other undefeated team in conference play is UC Santa Barbara, who is 2-0 thus far.
· The Beach has now won 16 regular season Big West matches in a row, dating all the way back to 2013.
BACK INTO THE TOP-30
· After three matches against three quality Ivy League teams last week, the Beach has jumped back up to No. 30 to match its season-high ranking.
· Last week, Long Beach State went 2-1 with both wins coming over nationally ranked squads. The loss was to (at the time) unranked Princeton. However, Princeton made its way back into the national rankings at No. 58 this week.
· The Beach is 5-3 against teams currently in the ITA's top-75 and still has four more ranked opponents on the schedule. Next week, the Beach will take a Midwest trip and visit No. 40 DePaul and No. 66 Illinois. LBSU will end the season with No. 54 BYU.
· Three Big West teams remained in the national rankings with the Beach topping the trio at No. 30. UC Irvine, who the Beach beat on Mar. 6, checked in at No. 70 while UC Santa Barbara, who the Beach host Apr. 10, checked in at No. 68.
