LONG BEACH, Calif. - Head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello could reach a career milestone this week as the Long Beach State women's tennis team heads to northern California for two matches. The Beach will put its unblemished 6-0 record on the line against Sacramento State on Friday and then will take on Big West foe UC Davis on Saturday.
HILT-COSTELLO GOES FOR 300
· Hilt-Costello has led the Beach to a perfect start this season and is now within reach of career win No. 300.
· She currently sits at 298 career wins, which is already the most in Long Beach State history.
THE OPPONENTS
· Sacramento State represents the Big Sky has to offer in women's tennis. The Hornets are in the midst of dynasty run, similar to the way the Beach has dominated the Big West.
· While the Hornets have dominated the Big Sky, they remain an unranked team and are 4-5 overall. With a 3-0 record in conference, the Hornets are just 2-5 in nonconference matches.
· The Beach is 7-3 all-time against Sacramento State and 11-1 over UC Davis.
· UC Davis is 3-7 overall and 1-2 in the Big West. All three of the Aggies Big West matches have been decided by a 4-3 score.
GERARD AND ROZENBERG STILL UNDEFEATED
· The Nos. 4 and 5 spots in the Beach lineup have been nothing short of dominant this season. Julie Gerard has locked down the No. 4 slot with a perfect 6-0 record while Karolina Rozenberg has done the same at No. 5.
· Both Gerard and Rozenberg are also 6-0 in doubles. Rozenberg and Laura Eales have split time between the No. 1 and No. 2 positions on the way to a 6-0 record while Gerard and Maeva Razakasoa have locked down the No. 3 spot with a 6-0 record.
· Combined Rozenberg and Gerard are 33-4 in singles matches this year, including the fall tournament season.
DOUBLES POINT LOCKDOWN
· Long Beach State has started the match ahead in all six dual matches this season by capturing the doubles point.
· The 49ers have not lost at the No. 2 or No. 3 spots during dual matches this year and are 4-2 at No. 1. They are 6-for-6 in capturing the doubles point to begin the match and have swept four times.
