LONG BEACH, Calif. - Beach Tennis puts its five-match win streak on the line with a single match against Cal Poly on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Rhodes Tennis Center. The match concludes a three-match homestand before the 49ers hit the road for three week.
ROZENBERG NOTCHES No. 150
· Senior Karolina Rozenberg reached a win total last weekend that only five before her have done in LBSU history. With her doubles win against San Francisco, Rozenberg won the 150th match of her career and later won No. 151 in singles.
· Rozenberg is undefeated in five dual matches this year. Rozenberg and Laura Eales are a perfect 5-0 in doubles while Rozenberg is a perfect 5-0 in singles in the No. 5 slot.
· She is also just the sixth player in 49er history to reach 80 singles wins in a career and the ninth to win 70 doubles matches.
THE OPPONENTS
· Cal Poly comes to the Beach with a 1-5 record overall and is playing in its first Big West match.
· Long Beach State is 21-8-1 all-time against the Mustangs.
RAZAKASOA REBOUNDS WITH ANOTHER UPSET
· Sophomore Maeva Razakasoa pulled off yet another upset with a convincing 6-4, 6-2 win over No. 51 Andrea Ka on Sunday.
· Razakasoa was upset in her debut as a nationally-ranked player but quickly proved to be an up and coming power with her third nationally-ranked upset of the spring.
· She is 4-2 against nationally-ranked players this year, including the fall tournament season.
GERARD REMAINS PERFECT
· Julie Gerard is also enjoying the spring success as she has yet to drop a match in the dual season. Gerard is a perfect 5-0 at No. 4 singles and is 5-0 with Razakasoa at No. 3 doubles.
COUNT UP TO 300
· Head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello is already the school record holder for career wins and is closing in on another milestone this season. Two more wins last week gave her 297 wins for her career.
· With just three more wins to go to reach the benchmark, Hilt-Costello could reach 300 as early as Feb. 28 if the Beach remains unbeaten.
