Long Beach, Calif. - No. 6 Long Beach State Men's Water Polo opened the Campus Pool with their first home match against Long Beach City College and came out with a big 14-3 win.

LBSU started strong in the first quarter with junior Ricardo Guimares scoring the first goal of the game. They held on to their lead with junior Zacchary Kappos scoring the second goal of the game, then Guimares and senior Milos Vrzic rounding out the first quarter with a 4-1 lead.

In the second quarter, Long Beach State scored the first three goals of the a quarter with the help of junior Connor Reilly, senior Joey Fabian, and freshman Jacob Fujioka. Long Beach City College responded back with a goal, but it wasn't enough to catch up to the Beach's lead at 8-2 by halftime.

The third quarter was all about defense. LBSU held the Vikings on offense. Junior goalie Pavo Ljepopio had a shut out with no goals passing by him in the third quarter.

The match ended with senior Nick Rascon and Fujioka scoring two more goals to end the game at 14-3.

The 49ers will play again at UCSB on Oct 5th, at noon.
