Men's Water Polo Heads to Inland Empire Tournament

No. 5 Men's Water Polo looks to continue their winning streak this weekend at UCLA and at the Inland Empire Tournament on Sunday September 13th. The 49ers will start off the weekend with UCLA at 10:30 a.m.
The match with UCLA is the first of two on Saturday for the 49ers, who will then face Pepperdine at 2:45 p.m. The 49ers then return to action with two more games at the Inland Empire Tournament on Sunday, playing Whittier at 10:40 a.m. before playing Claremont- Mudd- Scripps at 3:40 p.m.
Long Beach State has been led by junior Zacchary Kappos, who scored 10 goals at the Triton Invitational, helping lead the 49ers to a season opening weekend record of 4-0. Senior Dan Matulis and junior Nolan McConnell, who both were chosen for the 14-man USA Men's Senior National Team roster that will begin international water polo competition last February, scored 7 goals each.
The program is searching for its best start since the 2005 season, when the 49ers opened the season with a 9-0 record.
