SECOND MEETING FOR UCSD AND LBSU
The Beach and the Tritons have met already this year with the Beach edging out the host Tritons 9-7 at the Triton Invitational. The teams will match up again but the Tritons will be looking to return the favor in Long Beach this time.
Senior Chelsea Parks has been rolling for the Beach. She has scored in each of the last eight games and has scored a hat trick three times. She has scored four goals twice. One of those times came earlier this month when she lit up the scoreboard four times in an upset of then-No. 6 UC San Diego. She now leads the team with 20 goals throught the first 11 games.
BUSY TWO WEEKS FOR THE BEACH
Long Beach State will immediately hit the road after today's game for a couple week swing away from the Campus Pool. The Beach heads up to Thousand Oaks this weekend for the Cal Lutheran Invitational. Next week, LBSU will play at the Claremont Convergence before returning home to play Bucknell on Mar. 13.
ARROYO CHASING 200TH WIN
Gavin Arroyo has been guiding the both LBSU water polo programs for the past six years and both programs have found recent success. The men's team has won at least 20 games in each of the last two years and the women's team is trying to duplicate that feat this year. He has won 118 games as the men's coach and 73 games as the women's coach for 191 total wins in his career. With nine more wins this year, Arroyo would get combined win No. 200 as head coach. Since the 2008-09 school year (when he took over the women's program in addition to coaching the men), Arroyo has posted a combined 163-162 record.
