49ers Participate In Final Non-Conference Tournament This Weekend

Long Beach, Calif. - Men's Water Polo travels to the top tournament in the country this weekend, as the 49ers participate in the SoCal Tournament hosted by UC Irvine. The top 11 teams in the country are participating in the 16-team tournament, which includes 15 teams ranked in the Top 20.
Long Beach State has had a strong start to the season, opening up 2013 with a 14-3 overall record. The 49ers are led by sophomore Zacchary Kappos, who has scored 31 goals in 17 games this season, but five other 49ers have scored more than 20 goals this season: Nolan McConnell, Milos Vrzic, Carter Taylor, Devin Mefford, and Conner Reilly.
The 49ers will start this weekend's action in the tournament's second game, facing No. 10 Loyola Marymount for the third time this season at 9:25 a.m. on Saturday. The 49ers will be playing on Saturday at Corona Del Mar High School, and will play a second match Saturday with the time and opponent depending on their result against the Lions.
The tournament continues on Sunday, when the 49ers will play two more games either at Corona Del Mar or at UC Irvine. Times and opponents will be updated throughout the weekend at www.longbeachstate.com and at www.ucirvinesports.com.
