Long Beach, Calif. - No. 7 Long Beach State returns to tournament action this weekend, playing a pair of games at Whittier College before finishing the weekend at Pomona-Pitzer for two games.
Long Beach State picked up a big 11-7 win in its home opener last weekend against Princeton, and will look to improve on their 10-3 overall mark this weekend. A late change in the schedule will lead to an interesting rematch, as the 49ers will get the opportunity to avenge one of those three losses by facing Concordia for the second time. Concordia's 10-9 win over the 49ers propelled the Eagles into the national rankings, and they sit No. 11 coming into the weekend.
On Saturday, the 49ers will travel to a different location, playing two games at Pomona-Pitzer, first facing off against Cal Baptist at 11:40 a.m. before again closing the day against the hosts, this time at 6:20 p.m.
Pomona-Pitzer enters the week ranked No. 3 in the Division III CWPA Poll, while Whittier is ranked No. 5.
