Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State women's tennis garnered an ITA All-Academic Team award for the 2011 season, earning the honor for the seventh consecutive year. The award is given to any team that has a collective GPA of 3.2 or higher.
"I am very proud of the girls' hard work off the court as well as on the court over the last decade," said head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "You can excel at both and that is really what being a student-athlete is all about."
Additionally, three 49ers earned individual honors for carrying a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Senior Deborah Armstrong, junior Anais Dallara, and sophomore Anna Jeczmionka all were selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes. All three were also honored last year.
The 49ers have now won the award eight times in total, earning the honor from tennis' governing body.
