Long Beach, Calif. - No. 13 Long Beach State women's water polo begins the five-game Big West Conference schedule this weekend, traveling north to play No. 19 Pacific and No. 17 UC Davis this weekend.
The team will start by playing the Tigers at Noon on Saturday, April 9 in Stockton, Calif. in the Big West opener for both teams. The 49ers then will play UC Davis for the second time this season on Sunday, April 10 at Noon in the game that counts for the conference standings and seeding for entry into the Big West Tournament.
Long Beach State beat the Aggies in their first meeting this season, winning 12-10 at the UC Irvine Invitational behind four goals from junior Krizia Cerda, who leads the 49ers in goals scored this season with 37 goals in 2011, becoming the 11th 49ers to score over 100 goals in her career and joining Lauren Sieprath in that honor for this team.
Cerda needs just one goal to pass Elizabeth Garcia for ninth all-time in career goals scored, while Sieprath needs nine goals to move into fifth all-time in front of Drue Wawrzynski.
The 49ers will return home for three more matches after this weekend's contests, hosting UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine on Senior Night before participating in the Big West Tournament.
