Dallara named Big West Player of the Week

Long Beach, Calif. - Junior Anais Dallara was selected as the Big West Player of the Week as announced by the conference office today. Dallara was a perfect 4-0 in a pair of road wins against Cal State Fullerton and Loyola Marymount.
Competing in the top, No. 1 position in both singles and doubles for the 49ers, Dallara led Long Beach State to a pair of convincing road wins last weekend. First, Dallara helped the 49ers extend their Big West regular-season winning streak to 20 matches with a 7-0 defeat on the road at Cal State Fullerton.
Dallara beat Tiffany Mai 6-1, 6-2 to pick up a singles point against the Titans, and with doubles partner Deborah Armstrong also picked up a win over Mai/Rodriguez 8-1.
The following day on the road at Loyola Maryount, Dallara and Armstrong won at No. 1 doubles 8-1 over Pironkova/Rohovna in an important match, helping the 49ers win the doubles point 2-1. Then, Dallara rallied from a first-set loss to help seal a 6-1 road win against the Lions by defeating April Bisharat 5-7, 6-4, 10-2.
A junior from Gagnes, France, Dallara won the Big West Player of the Week honor for the second time in her career. She previously won the award as a freshman on March 11, 2009 after leading the 49ers to a pair of ranked wins over UC Irvine and Cal Poly.
