No. 42 Beach Tennis opens Big West play this weekend

Long Beach, Calif. - No. 42 Beach Tennis begins conference play with their first Big West match on Friday, playing at Cal State Fullerton before traveling to LMU to play the Lions on Saturday. The tilt with the Titans is set for 1:30 p.m. on the road while the LMU match has an 11 a.m. start time.
The 49ers (0-1) were defeated in their first match of the season at No. 18 USC, but the 49ers will be favored in both matches this weekend, which will give LBSU a chance to build some confidence prior to the team's first home stand over the coming weeks.
Using a slightly different lineup from the fall season, Long Beach State should still expect a convincing win at Cal State Fullerton, who finished in last place in the Big West last season. That should add wins for a number of players in the dual season, as sophomore Sarah Cantlay was the only player to grab a victory at USC two weeks ago.
The 49ers make their return to the Rhodes Tennis Center on Wednesday, Feb. 9, as the 49ers host Hawaii at 2 p.m. Then, Long Beach State welcomes CS Northridge in another Big West Match on Friday, Feb. 11 before hosting Nevada on Saturday, Feb. 12.
