49ERS VISIT PEPPERDINE: Long Beach State travels to Pepperdine on Saturday at 12 p.m. The (13-6, 0-3) 49ers look to rebound off a loss to UC Santa Barbara against the (12-7, 2-2) Waves. LBSU aims to avenge the loss earlier this season to Pepperdine during the SoCal Tournament.
49ERS DROP GAME AGAINST UC SANTA BARBARA: Long Beach State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, before the Guachos scored six straight goals. The 49ers were defeated 10-6 and are still looking for their first win in MPSF conference play.
PETROVIC THIRD IN GOALS IN MPSF: Alexandar Petrovic is the third leading goal scorer in the MPSF with 40 goals. He trails league leader Mitch Wise (UCI) who has scored 56 goals and Ivan Rackov (California) who has 54 goals. Petrovic is averaging 2.11 goals per game.
49ERS RANKED NINTH IN CWPA COACHES POLL: Long Beach State is listed in the Top 20 Coaches Poll for the week of October 12. The entire MPSF conference is ranked in the top 12 positions of the poll. Stanford is ranked first in the poll.
PETROVIC CRACKS TOP 25 IN CAREER GOALS: Senior Alexandar Petrovic is in the top 25 in career goals at Long Beach State when he ran his total to 105 with his five-goal showing against Concordia (CA). His 40 goals on the season is a new career high for the Serbian native. Petrovic is now ranked 21st (tie) all time in scoring at Long Beach State.
49ERS 13-6 RECORD IS BEST START SINCE 2007: It was the best start for the program's recent history, since the 2007 squad opened the season with an identical 13-6. Long Beach State has already eclipsed the win total of the last two seasons. Their next win will tie them with the 2008 season win total of 14, and with seven games left they can break the 17 win mark from 2007.
LONG BEACH STATE VICTORIOUS OVER UC SAN DIEGO: Freshman Connor Reilly scored the game-winning goal in overtime, giving Long Beach State the 9-8 victory. The 49ers were trailing 8-7, but Nick Rascon scored the game-tying goal with seven second remaining in regulation.
