HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Long Beach State women's basketball team was unable to get in the win column on the second day of the Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Showdown as it fell to Washington State, 87-63, Saturday afternoon at the Stan Sheriff Center.
WSU (1-5) outshot LBSU, 48.0 percent-to-33.3 percent, and also owned a 42-34 advantage on the boards. The 49ers committed 25 turnovers.
Freshman Ella Clark led The Beach with a season-best 16 points. Clark went 5-for-10 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers. Washington State took an early 4-0 lead before senior Ashley Bookman got LBSU on the board with a 3-pointer at the 17:39 mark. The Cougars proceeded to go up by eight points before the 49ers went on an 8-0 spurt, capped by a pair of Jacob free throws, to even the game at 16-16 with 11:29 remaining in the half.
The Beach (0-6) stayed within striking distance until it hit a three-minute scoring drought, allowing WSU to pull ahead, 46-24. Clark eventually ended the Cougars' 12-0 streak with a 3-pointer at the 1:05 mark, but Washington State still held a comfortable 48-30 cushion at the break.
In the first half, the Cougars shot 45.0 percent from the field, while holding LBSU to 30.8 percent. WSU also owned a plus-10 margin on the boards. Jacob led Long Beach State with seven points in the first period.

The Beach was unable to complete the comeback, however, as Washington State went up by as many as 28, en route to the 87-63 win.
Sage Romberg led four Cougars in double figures with 13 points. Hana Potter finished with 12, while Jazmine Perkins (11) and Carly Noyes (10) rounded out the quartet.
