Dallara's two solid wins highlight Day Two at ITA Regionals

Long Beach, Calif. - Competing the ITA Regional back draw, Anais Dallara, Deborah Armstrong and Sarah Cantlay all won two matches to advance to the Round of 16 in consolation play. Dallara's 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 win over Pepperdine's Khunpak Issara in the Round of 32 highlighted the day for Long Beach State.
Dallara defeated Arizona State's Ashlee Brown in her first match of the day, winning 6-4, 6-3 before advancing to play Issara. Armstrong defeated a pair of Big West opponents to continue in the back draw, beating CS Northridge's Brooke Doane before winning 6-2, 6-2 over Jordan Dockendorf of UC Santa Barbara. Cantlay reached the round of 16 with a 6-0, 7-6 win over UC Irvine's Hannah Holladay before outlasting Siana Simmons of Arizona State 3-6, 6-0, 10-8.
Rachel Manasse also played in the back draw on Friday, but lost in three sets to Melissa Valenzuela of LMU 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
In the main draw, the 49ers ran into the top seeds in the tournament in singles and were eliminated. Fifth-seeded McCall Jones of UCLA defeated Anna Jeczmionka 6-2, 6-1, twelfth-seeded Valeria Pulido beat Julie Luzar 6-1, 6-4, and No. 75 Sarah Landsman of Arizona topped Klaudia Malenovska of 6-3, 6-3. In the other match, Jaklin Alawi was upset by Juliette Coupez of USD by a 6-0, 6-1 margin.
In doubles, Montez/Hickey of UCLA defeated Armstrong/Dallara by an 8-5 score, while No. 51 Cako/Hein took down Malenovska/Manasse 8-3.
Armstrong, Cantlay and Dallara continue back draw play on Saturday, and the 49ers' matches in back draw doubles will also start Saturday.
