Women’s Tennis Continues Fall Play At ITA Southwest Regionals

All eight players for Long Beach State are scheduled to be in action in San Diego.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Beach Tennis had two players selected for the main draw in singles as the Beach will take part in the ITA Southwest Regionals, one of the signature events of the Fall.
Both of Long Beach State's first-team All-Big West selections from a year ago were placed straight through to the Round of 64, as Cecilia Costa and Diana De Simone received qualifying byes.
Six other players will compete in qualifying matches for Long Beach State at the ITA Southwest Regionals. Paulina Franco will start the tournament by facing Milena Gevorgyan of Cal State Fullerton, while Thea Jagar will face Peyton Duckett of GCU.
Coming off of a main draw victory at the Big West Fall Tournament, Pamela Badillo starts her run in San Diego against Amalia Suciu of GCU, while Daisy Carpenter was matched against a seeded opponent in Kayla Chung of UCLA.
Daria Malaescu will face Zoya Chulak of Arizona, and Johanna Hiesmair takes on Julia Visaya of UCSD as all eight players will compete in both singles and doubles at the tournament for Long Beach State.
The respect for Costa continued in doubles along with her partner Franco, as the duo received a bye into the Round of 32 in the main draw of doubles. Badillo and Hiesmair are scheduled to open doubles against Lidia Gonzalez and Sofia Cohen Perovani of Loyola Marymount, and Malaescu and Carpenter will begin in the Round of 64 against CSUN's Nicole West and Angela Ho. De Simone and Jagare will be in action together as well, facing Grete Gull and Sophie Rachor of Hawai'i.
