Hannah Grady named Academic All-America

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State senior Hannah Grady has added another accolade, becoming the first women's tennis player in Long Beach State history to be named an Academic All-America by ESPN The Magazine and CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
On the court, Grady was the four-time Big West Player of the Year, and is Long Beach State's winningest player overall and in singles. She also was a consistent Academic All-Big West selection, and carried a 3.93 GPA in Political Science.
15 players were selected for each of the three teams in the award process, which came from earlier nominations and winners from Academic All-District honors. Grady was chosen for the second-team.
Grady is the first player from Long Beach State's women's tennis player to receive Academic All-America merits. Tennis fits into the at-large category for the awards, which covers all women's sports that operate under the NCAA banner except soccer, softball, basketball, track and field, and volleyball.
Long Beach State has had at least one student-athlete earn Academic All-America honors over the last six years, and 11 out of the last 12. Overall, the 49ers have seen 16 different individual players honored by the program.
