Grady Named Big West Player of the Week

Hannah Grady, ranked No. 64 nationally, will play in Pacific Palisades on Tuesday

Long Beach, Calif. - Senior Hannah Grady was named the Big West Athlete of the Week for women's tennis as announced by the conference office today.

Grady completed a perfect league season at No. 1 singles, defeating No. 84 Jenifer Widjaja of Pacific and UC Davis' Randi Schuler to go 8-0 in Big West dual matches.

Ranked No. 100 in the nation, Grady helped the 49ers finish 8-0 as a team in Big West play and secure the No. 1 seed for the Big West Tournament in two weeks. Grady wins the award for the second time in 2009, and is the third honoree from Long Beach State, as Anais Dallara also was a prior winner.

Long Beach State closes out the 2009 regular season on the road for two matches. The team faces Pepperdine today at 1:30 p.m. before finishing the regular season on Thursday at LMU in a match that also begins at 1:30 p.m.
