Returning To Rhodes
Long Beach State hosts two more matches at home this weekend, first playing UCSB in a conference match on Thursday afternoon before taking on Nevada on Friday morning. Long Beach State will try to continue to maintain a perfect record in Big West play during the week.
Climbing The Ranks
The 49ers rocketed up the rankings this past week after two wins over ranked opponents. After spending two weeks in the 40s, Long Beach State improved to No. 25 in the country, the second-highest ranking in program history.
One Big Week
Anais Dallara was named the Big West Player of the Week after picking up four wins in two key Big West victories. Facing the two other ranked teams in the Big West in consecutive matches, Dallara won both of her singles matches on the week, extending her singles winning streak to nine matches. In doubles, she remained undefeated while partnered with Rachel Manasse, as the tandem combined to defeat a ranked pair against UC Irvine and then beat Cal Poly at No. 3 doubles, helping Long Beach State take both doubles points. Deborah Armstonrg and Lisa Sutton won both of their doubles matches, while Hannah Grady also won twice at No. 1 singles, helping the 49ers stay on top of the league standings.
