Just In Time
Long Beach State returned to their winning ways last week, beating the rain and the Aztecs on the road against San Diego State. Hannah Grady defeated No. 93 Julia Trunk at No. 1 singles to start a 1-4 singles sweep for Long Beach State in a 4-2 win. Playing singles to beat the rain, the 49ers were ahead in doubles as well prior to the rain stoppage prior to the completion of any of the three doubles matches.
On The Big West
Long Beach State starts Big West play this weekend, hosting Cal State Northridge in the first conference match at the Rhodes Tennis Center before taking on Cal State Fullerton on the road Saturday morning. The 49ers match with Fullerton was originally scheduled for earlier in the year, but was moved to accommodate a postponed match with Florida International. The 49ers hope to start with a 2-0 record in league play after the team's Gold Game on Friday and their opening Big West road match on Saturday.
Grady Gets It
Defeating No. 93 Julia Trunk in No. 1 singles was impressive enough to earn Hannah Grady Big West Player of the Week honors last week. Grady, the three-time defending Big West Player of the Year earned her tenth career Big West Player of the Week award, extending her own LBSU record by leading the 49ers to a win over the Aztecs.
