Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State women's water polo will start off their season this Saturday, January 31 when they host their annual alumnae game at the Campus Pool. The action will start at Noon.
Ranked no. 15 to start the year, the 49ers will host two games before heading to a pair of tournaments. The team first brings back the alumnae for the alumnae game this weekend, and then kicks off the regular season by welcoming UCLA to the Campus Pool at 7 p.m. on February 5.
The 49ers lose top-goal scorer Dayna Wawrzynski to graduation but bring back sophomore Lauren Sieprath and junior Branwyn Lee, who scored 45 and 36 goals respectively last season, along with goaltender Kristen Stragier, who finished 2008 with 287 saves.
