LONG BEACH-- Long Beach State senior Hannah Grady (Coventry, England) is ranked No. 64 in the first national rankings to start the 2008-09 season. Grady, one of the most honored 49ers in Beach Tennis history, is a three-time Big West Player of the Year, three-time first team All-Big West selection and three-time All-Big West doubles selection.
She has twice been selected to play in the NCAA Individual Singles Championships and will be playing her home matches on the brand new Rhodes Tennis Center courts, opened in 2008 on campus thanks to the generous donations of Terry Rhodes, Les and Cindy Robbins and John Hendricks.
Grady, a political science major, carries a 3.915 cumulative GPA, and has twice been named to the ITA's national all-academic team. She is also a two-time Academic All-Big West selection.
Grady has 129 career wins, 67 singles wins and 62 doubles wins. All are within striking distance of the school-record, as she is 19 wins short of Stephanie Bengson's four month old record for overall wins (148) and singles victories (73). She is 20 wins shy of Sandra Rocha's 82 doubles wins.
Grady's 26 wins in 2008 was the second best total in school history, while her 22 wins with Stephanie Bengson was one win shy of the school-record. That tandem ranked as high as No. 31 last year en route to a 22-8 record.
Grady has ranked as high as No. 38 in her career, during the pre season rankings of 2006. She finished last year ranked No. 88.
