WOODLAND-- Senior Dayna Wawrzynski (Garden Grove) and freshman Lauren Sieprath (Auckland, New Zealand) were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-conference team, with Wawrzynski earning honorable mention honors and Sieprath being named to the All-Freshman team.
Wawrzynski, whose father Paul and sister Drue were both All-Americans for Long Beach State, had a stellar final season for the 49ers, leading The Beach with 68 goals. That total was the second-best total in school-history, trailing All-American Stacy Black's mark by just eight goals. Wawrzynski, who came into the season with just 23 goals, finished with 91 in her career.
Sieprath, a member of the New Zealand National team, is the second 49er Kiwi to earn a post-season honor from the MPSF. Former All-American Roberta Stewart, also a member of the New Zealand National Team, was a two-time first team selection in 2002 and 2003. Sieprath finished her first season with 45 goals, including seven in the MPSF Tournament.
This year's club finished the year at 16-17 and in 11th place at the MPSF Tournament. The win total doubled the 2007 total.
