IRVINE-- Long Beach State Women's Tennis swept the top honors in the Big West Conference on Tuesday, as Junior Hannah Grady was named the Big West Player of the Year for the third-straight time, Head Coach Jenny Hilt-Costello was named the Coach of the Year for the fifth time in her career and Stephanie Jeanes was named the Big West Freshman of the Year.
Grady and senior Stephanie Bengson were named first team All-Big West in singles, while Jeanes was named to the second team and freshman Deborah Armstrong was honorable mention. In doubles, the team of Grady and Bengson (21-8), ranked No. 53, were first team selections as were Jessica Weeks and Jeanes.
Bengson, who is tied for the most combined wins in school-history (147) and is the all-time singles leader, was named all-conference for the fourth-straight year, picking up her third first team honor to go along with a 2006 second team selection.
Both Grady (26-9) and Bengson (21-11) were undefeated against the rest of the conference in singles play. Grady was named a first team selection for the third-straight time.
For Jeanes (18-7), she went 20-0 in both doubles and singles play against her Big West opponents, including the Big West Tournament, which the 49ers won for the fifth-straight year. Jeanes follows Bengson and Grady as Freshmen of the Year.
Armstrong went 23-15 in her first season at The Beach, while Weeks was named first team all-conference in doubles for the third-straight year. Weeks teamed with Grady in 2006 and 2007, and then went 17-6 with Jeanes as her partner in 2008.
